This pastel artwork depicts Blackwater Creek in Lynchburg, Virginia. A stream where my sister and I used to play as children. The lush green forest grows right down to the banks of the shade dappled water running in its sandy bed. This creek flows through what used to be a neighborhood park with a playground and is now a nature area planted with wildflowers and butterfly bushes. We had such adventures there so many years ago. It is a beautiful area for a stroll. I think that this pastel of mine captures some of the magic of the place. I'm really pleased with the way it turned out and I hope that the viewer can get a feeling for the serenity and the natural beauty of Blackwater Creek.
