I am honored to have received a nomination for the Fine Art America ‘Tony’ award for artistic merit from fellow artist Janice Drew for the month of January 2021. And grateful to both Tony Murray, sculptor and creator of the award statue, and to Abbie Shores for administering the list of award recipients. This drawing in charcoal and soft pastel features a perky Carolina wren, state bird of South Carolina where I reside, perched on the award. I’ve used selective color and white highlights. Birds are a frequent subject of my artwork so I felt this would be an appropriate means of showcasing the sculpture.
