An elegant waterfowl, the egret, is portrayed in this drawing done in graphite pencil on a cream colored paper. The bird, with its gracefully curving neck, is gazing skyward with what I think is an air of hopefulness. I have used a rather loose style in my pencil strokes which lends a bit of energy to the static pose of the subject. Egrets are a type of heron.
